North Bali Reef Conservation

North Bali Reef Conservation is a volunteer-based initiative dedicated to protecting and restoring the coral reefs along Bali’s northern coastline. Unlike the more developed and touristic southern part of Bali, North Bali has seen significant damage to its reefs due to destructive fishing practices, pollution, and climate change. The organization works closely with local fishermen and coastal communities to restore marine biodiversity and promote sustainable fishing practices.

One of its main conservation efforts involves the construction and deployment of artificial reef structures, which provide a stable environment for corals to grow and marine life to thrive. These artificial reefs not only help rehabilitate damaged coral ecosystems but also create new habitats for fish and other marine species, ensuring long-term sustainability. The organization also runs regular beach and ocean cleanups to remove plastic waste and other pollutants that threaten marine life.
